Email verifier · no email is ever sent
Know which emails will bounce before you send.
BounceTest checks single email addresses and whole lists. For each address, it asks the mail server one simple question: does this mailbox exist? Every address gets a clear answer with a simple reason, and no one on your list ever receives an email from us.
The answers
Five clear results, each with a simple reason.
Valid
The mailbox exists.
Send to it.
Invalid
The mailbox does not exist, so sending to it will bounce.
Remove it from your list.
Risky
Mail to this address may bounce. Either its mail server accepts every address, so the mailbox cannot be confirmed, or the mailbox is full.
Send with care. Some of these bounce.
Disposable
A temporary address that will stop working.
Remove it from your list.
Unknown
The mail server did not answer, so we cannot tell either way.
Check it again later.
How it works
From a messy list to a clean one, in three steps.
-
Upload your list
Upload a CSV or TXT file, or paste the addresses in. An export from your email tool or a spreadsheet works as is.
-
We ask each mail server
For every address, we ask its mail server one question: does this mailbox exist? We hang up before any message is sent.
-
Download the results
Your list comes back as a CSV with a result and a reason next to every address, ready to clean up before you send.
Whole lists
Bulk email verification: upload your whole list and watch the results come in.
You see the progress live: how far along it is, how much time is left, and how the results are turning out so far.
- Up to 100,000 addresses in one list
- Duplicate addresses are checked and charged only once
- Close the page whenever you like; checking continues
- Results come back as a CSV, with a reason next to every address
The details
The small things that protect your sender reputation.
Catch-all servers, called out
Some mail servers say yes to every address, real or not. We test each domain with an address that cannot exist, and if the server accepts it, we mark that domain's addresses Risky instead of Valid.
Throwaway addresses
We instantly recognize more than 9,000 temporary email services, so short-lived sign-ups do not stay on your list.
Typos
We catch typos like
gamil.comand suggest the domain the person most likely meant, so a good contact is not thrown away.Full inboxes
A mailbox that exists but is full is marked Risky, with that reason, instead of being lumped in with addresses that do not exist. Its owner may clear space later.
A pace mail servers accept
We check each mail provider at a speed it accepts. That is what keeps the answers accurate on long lists.
Recent answers, remembered
If an address was checked recently, you get the answer instantly, without asking its mail server again.

Questions
Before you ask.
Do you send anything to the addresses on my list?
No. We connect to the address's mail server, ask whether the mailbox exists, and hang up before any message is sent. No one on your list receives anything from us.
What does “Risky” mean?
Mail to the address may bounce, and we say why. Most often its mail server accepts every address, real or not, so nobody can confirm the mailbox from the outside. Sometimes the mailbox exists but is full, and mail bounces until its owner makes room. Whether to send is your call.
How long does a list take?
A small list takes a few minutes; a very large one can take hours, because we check each mail provider at a pace it accepts. You can close the page; checking continues, and the results will be waiting for you.
What is a credit?
One credit checks one address. If an address appears more than once in a list, it is checked and charged only once.
Who can see my lists?
No other customer can. A list belongs only to the account that uploaded it, and you can delete it whenever you like. BounceTest keeps the result for each address so it does not have to check the same address again; deleting a list does not remove those results.
How do I get an account?
Sign up with your email address and a password. We send you a link to confirm that the address is yours, and your account starts with 100 free credits, enough to check 100 addresses.
Send to people who are really there.
Check your list before your next send and keep bounces out.
